SUMMARY:Brian Saber - June Special Program
DESCRIPTION:Brian Saber has spent his entire career ASKING for money for non-profits. From his early days as a student leader and telethon caller (!) to his six years in charge of major and principal gifts throughout the Midwest for Brandeis University to his two stints as an executive director\, every position involved significant face-to-face solicitation. And he is still honing that art today\, cultivating and soliciting select major donors for various clients. \nBrian harnessed all that frontline experience to become a sought-after trainer\, coach\, and consultant around the country and abroad. His work is transformative. He develops major gift programs\, conducts campaign feasibility studies\, creates training courses\, and coaches top-level staff\, taking organizations to the next level. \nHaving spent most of his career with organizations having budgets under $10 million\, Brian is well aware of the fundraising challenges smaller organizations face. He knows most organizations can’t afford consulting services or even a half-day training by a professional. It’s just not in the budget. \nWith that perspective\, Brian created a resource that all non-profits could afford. With his co-founder\, Andrea Kihlstedt\, Brian built Asking Matters – a web-based company that trains people how to ask for money and motivates them to do it! As the least expensive and best quality resource in the field\, he promises Asking Matters will help countless organizations continue to do incredible work for their causes. \nBrian Saber will lead the session\, which will be based on the Asking Styles and cover the following topics (those asterisked are of top priority): \n\nWhy asking matters*\nOur money and asking mindsets*\nOvercoming obstacles to asking\nUnderstanding the Asking Styles*\nHow to use the Styles to understand interpersonal and meeting dynamics*\nTelling your compelling\, unique story*\nChoosing the right prospects\nPreparing to ask\nSetting up meetings\n\n\nParking Options for the Harrelson Center \nSTREET PARKING \n\nParking is FREE on 5th Street behind the center.\nMetered two-hour spaces are available on Princess Street beside the center. These cost $1.50 an hour. Enforced Monday – Saturday 9:00 to 5:00 pm. Pay by Phone instructions are listed on each meter and on the city website. Machines also accept coins.\n\nCITY PARKING DECKS \n\nThere are two parking decks within three blocks of The Harrelson Center. The 1st 90 minutes are free. The cost is $1.00 an hour following that\, with a max charge of $8.00 a day.\n\nVISITOR SPACES AT THE CENTER \n\nWe have 10 visitor parking spaces at The Harrelson Center for first come\, first serve visitors. When entering the parking deck off of 4th Street\, take an immediate right and go to the end of the lane. The ten visitor spaces are marked on the left side.
