Job Summary
Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear is seeking an Event Coordinator for our fundraiser breakfast occurring in late 2026. The fundraiser is to highlight the mission of our organization and celebrate our 30th year serving families in the Cape Fear area. The Event Coordinator will be the lead in planning and execution of the fundraising event including creating marketing collateral, cultivating sponsors and table captains, developing the program, and being the main point of contact with venue and volunteers.
Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in organizing and executing non-profit special events. Evidence of successful events, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, and budget/ROI required. Previous experience within the Wilmington/New Hanover County area is preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, social work, or non-profit management or equivalent in work experience.
Job Roles
Event Planning & Management
- Develop and manage the timeline, budget, and logistics for the event
- Coordinate with vendors, venue, speakers, and caterers to ensure smooth execution.
- Plan the logistics of the event including project planning and execution, while following the event budget.
Fundraising & Sponsorship
- Research, cultivate, and solicit new and existing donors to secure sponsorships and donations.
- Responsible for in-kind donation solicitations.
- Track and report on sponsorship benefits and fulfillment.
Marketing & Promotion
- Create event materials such as programs, signage, and invitations.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging aligned with the nonprofit’s mission.
- Promote the event via email, social media, press releases, and community partnerships.
Volunteer & Staff Coordination
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and event staff to support all event functions.
- Assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide support during events.
Attendee Experience
- Ensure a positive experience for guests, donors, and community members.
- Oversee registration, check-in, and hospitality logistics.
- Gather attendee feedback to improve future events.
Evaluation & Reporting
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Prepare detailed reports on attendance, revenue, expenses, and overall impact.
- Provide recommendations for improving future events and maximizing ROI for the nonprofit.
Skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Fundraising, sponsorship, and donor relations experience.
- Passion for the nonprofit’s mission.
Working Hours
- This is a contracted position for the sole purpose of planning and executing our breakfast fundraiser.
- Estimated time is 40 hours/month, increasing to 80 hours/month as the event date approaches.
- Partial remote work is permitted.
